The 2004 Balloon Launcher's Bar-B-Que The 2004 Balloon Launcher's Bar-B-Que was held the Saturday following Memorial Day, June 5, 2004, at the Childress Farm, south of Effingham, KS. This year we featured the "Shyster Mountain Gang" bluegrass band from Topeka, and "Rhubarb Pie" the traditional family band made up of Dad and three kids of the Steve Mason Family from Lawrence. We also featured the "Swingin' Strings" playing Gershwin tunes, show tunes, and old favorties during the supper hour. Many students and fellow fiddlers from Kansas, Iowa, and California were with us again this year.
