Jazz Strings Workshop with Geoffrey Fitzhugh Perry at Central Middle School, Lawrence, KS, October 21, 2004 Well known jazz fiddler and teacher, Geoffrey Fitzhugh Perry, of New York, conducted a series of workshops for middle school strings students in the Lawrence and Topeka, KS area on October 21, 22, and 23, 2004. There was no cost to our students as the fees have been paid by sponsoring groups. The Effingham Strings students joined with the orchestra students of Central Middle School in Lawrence for the workshop, and then worked exclusively with Geoff Perry at the Americana Academy of Music for the second workshop. Geoff Perry is the author of his book and CD, "Fiddle Jam, a way cool way to improvise". He is a great teacher and the kids all love him. The Effingham Strings Students were introduced to his book and CD last year, and this fall, got to meet Geoff and work with him in person. See www.fiddlejam.com.
